The Work of Salvation

The subjective work

Those God predestined, He also called [143] through His word [144] and His spirit [145]. He opened the way for them to believe [146] and to repent [147]. In his godly sorrow [148], the hatred of his own sin and the shame which has offended God [149], the sinner confesses and condemns his sin [150], repents of his wrongdoings [151], prays to the Lord to obtain forgiveness [152]. He is confident in God the Saviour [153]; he remains in Christ [154].

Through faith the believer accepts Christ [155] relies on Him and only by Him is justified [156]. Justification is a judiciary decision from God [157], through which Christ’s righteousness is credited to our account [158] as an answer to our faith [159] and not as a token of gratitude for the man’s personal righteousness [160]. Christ being delivered over to death is the foundation of our righteousness [161].

When the sinner repents, is converted (is saved from the world and sin) [162] and is confident that he belongs to Jesus Christ, he is born again [163], the Living word of God regenerates him [164]. This is the baptism of the Holy Spirit, so called in the Scriptures [165]. Thus he is a new creature [166], Christ lives in him [167], he is then God’s temple [168].

As soon as we are born again, we receive the Spirit bringing about our adoption to sonship and by him we cry: “Abba, Father”, since those who are led by the Spirit are God’s children. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children [169].

The first born Son is our brother [170]; He allows us to approach the Lord’s sanctuary [171]. From now we are co-heirs with Christ [172] and are sealed for the day of redemption [173].

Our fellowship is with God the Father and with His son [174], since whoever believes in the Name of God’s Son is given eternal life [175]. Jesus Christ is the true God and eternal life [176].

God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms [177]. We stand firm through faith in the blood of Christ, so that we can take our stand against the devil’s schemes [178].
