The Work of Salvation

The sanctifying work

The believers, through their position in Christ, are eternally set apart for God, i.e. sanctified once for all through the offering of Jesus Christ’s body. Jesus Christ sanctified Himself for them [179].

God is holy [180] and we are holy through His calling [181], we are consecrated to God and belong to Him [182]. That is why the believer purifies himself and separates himself from any unclean practice, any evil and from the world [183]. He walks everyday in the light of God’s word [184] revealing the deeds of darkness [185] and the acts of the sinful nature [186]. The believer exposes these deeds [187] and obeys the truth [188].

Sanctifying means applying holiness to our actual life [189]. The believer experiences sanctifying through the Holy Spirit acting in him [190] by means of the Scriptures [191]. The God of peace sanctifies us thoroughly, [192] through discipline from the Spirit which puts to death the misdeeds of the body [193]. Being sanctified is the result of Christ growing into us [194] to attain to the whole measure of His fullness [195]. We perfect holiness all our life long, [196] experiencing repentance, faith and obedience [197].Without holiness no one will see the Lord [198], holiness is essential to our salvation [199], we must desire it eagerly [200].

Les croyants attendent la venue du Seigneur pour la réalisation complète de leur sanctification [201].
