Practice of the Christian Life
The Christian in the city
God has established authorities [290]; the believer must submit himself to every human authority [291], honour it [292], pray for it [293] pay taxes and other owed sums [294].
His citizenship being in heaven [295], the Christian always keeps his conscience clear before God and people [296]. Legitimately, he obeys laws as long as they are not against God’s law [297]; he does not join with rebellious officials [298]. The fruit of righteousness is sowed in peace by peacemakers [299].
